| 1 | Arrive at Galileo Galilei International Airport (Pisa) to be greeted by your hosts and driven along tree lined roads to your luxury spa hotel at Terme San Giuliano. The spa, loved by the Etruscans and ancient Romans, became famous in 1743, when the Grand Duke of Tuscany, Francesco Stefano of Lorena made his summer residence there and it became fashionable with European aristocracy. Lunch and revitalise with a massage (included) or luxuriate in the spa ready for a cocktail party that evening beneath frescoes from the 1800's. Dinner will follow in the sumptuous dining room with dishes inspired by ancient Tuscan recipes which delighted the Grand Duke's guests. |
| 2 | A leisurely breakfast then depart for a morning in Lucca, a historic lively small city, untouched by 20th century planning and sheltered behind pink ramparts surmounted by a tree lined avenue. Explore the narrow streets lined with the tall facades of old palazzos and numerous churches which are among the finest examples of Pisan Romanesque architecture. Cycle on top of the famous ramparts, discover artistic treasures, shop or just watch the world go by over an espresso before lunch in the Luchesi Hills. After lunch return to the hotel to indulge in the spa treatments available including thermal therapeutic treatments, massotherapy, energetic techniques and aesthetic face and body treatments or return to further discover the splendors of Lucca. In the evening dinner at an atmospheric restaurant in the nearby countryside. |
| 3 | Breakfast at the hotel followed by a shopping excursion to designer outlets including Giorgio Armani, Gucci, Salvatore Ferragamo, La Perla, Fendi, Tod’s, Ermenegildo Zegna, Yves St Laurent, Dolce & Gabbana and others located in the countryside south of Florence. Following this an afternoon in Florence, a prestigious city of art and one of the finest in Italy, cradle of the Italian language and a centre of civilization where the Renaissance was born in the early 15thC. Discover artistic treasures, shop in boutiques and local stores before dinner in the hills outside the city. |
| 4 | After breakfast, a drive through Versilia to Forte dei Marmi for an interlude in this chic beachside resort nestled among tree lined avenues for a morning coffee in a side walk cafe and watch elegant italians indulging in 'la dolce vita'. Then onto lunch at Santa Marguerita Ligure overlooking the spectacular bay crowned with turn of the century villas cascading down to the mediterranean. Later in the afternoon stroll around elegant Portofino, shopping in designer boutiques or sipping an aperativo by the picturesque port. That evening a late dinner at Pietrasanta, home to world famous sculptors and artists, including Bottero and Chia. Wander through galleries late into the night, mingle with the locals in the piazza before returning to the hotel. |
| 5 | Breakfast and then a mid morning departure for an area south of Tuscany to your luxury spa hotel overlooking unspoilt Tuscan countryside. Lunch at the hotel and then indulge at the wellness centre, take a walk through the countryside or just relax before dinner. |
| 6 | After breakfast a scenic drive through the rolling Tuscan countryside to the charming Medieval and Renaissance hilltop towns of Montepulciano and Pienza then onto the splendor of Siena, visiting the Duomo and cathedral precinct and contemplate the breathtaking setting of the Piazza del Campo over an aperitivo before dinner. |
| 7 | A morning visit to a vineyard in the Montalcino area with the opportunity to taste the famous Brunello wines of the region. Lunch in Montalcino then a leisurely return stopping at the Abbazia di Sant’Antimo, a particularly fine example of 12thC Romanesque Cistercian architecture in a picturesque rural setting before drinks and dinner that evening at the hotel. |
